Server Migration (Completed)

Posted by Mike at 12/11/2006 07:28:16

Those faithful TechPlug members still around, this is notification that the server migration has gone through without flaw. I do apologize though if you did experience any outages, god only knows how important our inactive community is to spammers and the few kind souls that click google ads.

Server Migration

Posted by Mike at 12/09/2006 11:04:25

Some of you might remember a few years ago, when we were active, we use to have a lot of server problems. About a year ago we launched the current site and migrated to a better host to handle (what we thought) was going to be an even larger load. Well, since then we have had no problems (could be also due to no activity). Nevertheless, we are once again migrating to a new host. This is to inform our 5 active members and the other 288 inactive users that there might be some slight downtime on December 11, 2006.

Those of you that do read this, have interest in TechPlug, want to see it active again, and want to facilitate the process of “rebirthing” an inactive community, simply shoot me an email to mmorgan@techplug.com or PM mike.

Role Call

Posted by Mike at 11/29/2006 08:33:54

As many of you know, Techplug has been in somewhat of a hibernation over the past six months. I would love to post that we have been hard at work preparing a new version; however, the truth is we have not. Many of us, including myself, are full time students shifting through one of life’s many transitions. What I would like to know is, simply, are there any of you loyal Techplug fans still around? I know the forums are not “active” though we are getting hits. If you are reading this and have a Techplug membership, please reply to this “Role Call” stating you are still here. I would like to know if there is still a significant amount of interest because some site overhauling is in order.

Thank you,

Mike

Well loyal Tech Pluggers (all two of you),

Don't forget to click our lovely Banner Ads.  Today's prize will be a redirection to a foreign site and 2 pennies added to the Tech Plug coffers!  We love you all, don't forget to keep on posting :D.

Oh Boy! Control my session!

Posted by Mike at 06/25/2006 01:50:39

Well, I am addicted to Panera Bread. I do most of my development here (did I say I was addicted to Panera?) both for techplug and for work. As I said yesterday, I will be leaving for a 6 week educational hiatus, so I am spending my last moments of freedom at Panera working on the techplug CMS. Today I was able to get some of the functions written to control sessions throughout the CMS. I am hoping that I will be able to get the permission system finished in the next few weeks. I am looking forward to finishing the system so we can post proudly on our own custom blog, forum, news, article system, etc. Wish me luck and stay tuned for further updates!

Development Update

Posted by Mike at 03/03/2006 08:50:25

We have made continued progress on the new version of techplug. Not only have we nearly completed the new layout but an entirely new front-end and backend infrastructure. The new site is completely custom from the grounds up including a forum, article & news system, and a download system for techplug projects.

If you take a look around the forums you won’t see much activity, but that is ok as we are in steady development behind the scenes. We look forward to releasing the new version of techplug which we believe will better equip techplug for future expansion. We also look forward to the release of TPUAudio which Frank will continue to release updates on the project.

Thank you to all of our members who continue to visit us during our hibernation period, it wont be long until we are active again.

Techplug v1.2 Sneak Peak

Posted by Mike at 01/06/2006 05:56:57

Here is an update on the status of the latest version of Techplug.

Techplug v1.1 was a major release with a new forum system, downloads, articles and a new backend (http://www.techplug.com/viewtopic.php?id=8> Read More), but you might be asking, “What else could those wacky Techplug guys be brewing up?”. Well, that is a great question! Techplug v1.2 will have many new improvements to the site, mostly relating to the layout of the site. The rest will deal with small bugs that we have found while also adding some cool new features.

Alright, ready for the good stuff? We are still working on the new version, but thought that some of our faithful members might like a look at the new layout. Check out the links below for some sneak peaks!

Extra, Extra: Tech Plug's Development Arm!

Posted by Frank0051 at 01/01/2006 07:22:17

Well Tech Plug members and guests, we sure have a New Years treat for you!

On behalf of the Tech Plug Administration, I am proud to unveil the new and improved Tech Plug Unplugged!  That's right Tech Plug Unplugged (TPU) is back and better than ever because it has been rejuvenated as the development arm of Tech Plug.  As you may remember TPU sprang from the creators of 'Frank’s Board" and proved itself as a premier section of Tech Plug.  Now, after receiving a face-lift, TPU is back and ready for action.  To prove this, our developers have released a sample audio program written in Java nick-named "TPUAudio".  Although only in the very early stages of development you can check out the program in TPU Download Section.

TPUAudio is a program that is able to utilize Java's Sound API and has cross-platform ability to play audio files.  This extremely early version of TPUAudio features:

•    WAVE file support
•    AU file support
•    AIFF file support
•    AIFC file support and SND file support (depending upon your operating system)
•    8- and 16-bit audio data, in mono and stereo, with sample rates from 8 kHz to 48 kHz for all file formats
•    Linear (PCM), A-Law and (m)u-Law encoding support for all non-synthesized audio formats
•    MIDI Type 0, MIDI Type 1, and Rich Music Format (RMF) file support
•    Pan/balance (on stereo sounds), mute, and volume control for non-synthesized audio
•    HTTP stream file support (try with our example file:  http://www.techplug.com/downloads/gs_theme.wav
•    Debugging options for all users
•    Platform independent GUI for cross-platform support (this is not the final design; it is just a placeholder to test the functionality).

Interested yet?  Check out TPU audio for yourself in the TPU Download Section and let us know what you think.
